{rpcode}This is almost a novelty lens. I carry it in my bag, but only take it out on very special occasions. Up close, the deformation of the image is incredible... might be cool for special effects, but if you shoot constantly with it, you'll get bored. Keep in mind that the extreme curvature of the front element makes it impossible to add a protecting filter. That being said, this lens

{rpcode}I always carry it in my bag when I go out on sport coverage. It'll give you the extra lenght you might need for making THE shot. Best used during the day, or in a well illuminated venue, since you'll loose a bit of apperture.

{rpcode}Probably the best all around zoom lens money can buy. It's very good for sports (indoors and outdoors) and candid portraits. The stabilizer can be de-coupled to isolate only vertical stabilisation, giving outstanding results for panning shots. I also use it a lot for rock concert photography... best lens to capture the drummer in low light situation.

this is a very versatile lens for outdoor photography. I have used it with success for both shooting birds and outdoor sports. The weight will start to get to you if you are holding for any length of time. I photographed a ski competition and i started to definitely feel it after a half hour or so of constant shooting. A Cottoncarrier vest is my next investment.
